Morocco's First F-16 Block 72 Completes Maiden Flight As Testing Begins Ahead Of Delivery
Lockheed Martin said the Royal Moroccan Air Force's first F-16 Block 72 has made its first flight and is now in flight testing before delivery. The company also outlined its wider work with Morocco, including a planned MRO facility.

Lockheed Martin said on Oct. 6, 2026, that the first F-16 Block 72 built for the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) has completed its first flight. The company described the flight as a key milestone, with the aircraft now moving through flight testing toward its first delivery.
According to Lockheed Martin, Block 72 is the newest and most advanced variant of the Fighting Falcon. It features upgraded avionics, advanced sensors, improved mission systems, and enhanced safety and reliability features.
Mike Shoemaker, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin's Integrated Fighter Group, said the flight shows meaningful progress on the Moroccan program and is a critical step in strengthening the country's future airpower. He added that the F-16 remains a vital part of current and future air defense.
The company said its partnership with Morocco has lasted more than 50 years, starting with the first C-130H delivery in 1974. The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces currently operate F-16s, C-130s, advanced radar systems and Black Hawks, and will receive HIMARS with long range precision fires.
